Alvington House residents were determined to play their part in the Royal celebrations over the summer. First, they sent a signed card to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to congratulate them on the birth of Prince Louis. Next, came a similar gesture for the marriage of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle. This extra special event was also marked by donning party frocks and best bibs and tuckers to watch coverage of the wedding on television, and to enjoy a celebratory barbeque.
Imagine the excitement and delight when a special card addressed to staff and residents dropped through the letterbox at Alvington House. Inside was a thank you message and wedding photo from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex which now takes pride of place (in the residents’ lounge).
“We all loved watching the Royal wedding on TV and it was wonderful to receive a personal message from the Royal couple,” said one resident. “There must have been thousands of people, like us, all over the world, who sent their good wishes – it was really touching that Kensington Palace took the trouble to reply.”
